yes, beef broth will definitely give it more of a deeper color; you can also add a touch more soy sauce as well!

I was looking for something like what my mother in law made. It was so delish! She would never give me the recipe. She has since passed away and I want to try to make it the way she did. This sounds like it would be similar but she had more of a brown sauce. Instead of the chicken base could I use beef?

i’m not sure if the cornstarch part freezes well. you can make the rest of the sauce, freeze it, then when it’s time to cook, defrost and add in the cornstarch if that helps!

I included an entire head of bok choy and 2 large carrots cut diagonally, used mirin instead of shaoxing wine. It was a hit at our house.
